to the Jones Beach Volleyball Facility

UPDATE for JONES BEACH PLAYERS 5/10/2011
"Jones Beach Alternate Route & Parking due to Tunnel Repair
at Field 4"
The Ocean Parkway "Westbound" between the Wantagh Pkwy and
Meadowbrook Pkwy will be closed until May 27th. However, the Bay Pkwy
(detour) will be open "Westbound" from the Wantagh Pkwy
and Meadowbrook Pkwy.
Parking Field 4 will be closed. LIVA Player's will be allowed to park
in the"Administration
lot" and "West Bathhouse Employee lot" directly across
from the Parking Field 4 entrance (these are the last 2 parking lots
just after the West Bath House and just before the Water Tower "Pencil"
as you head east from the Meadowbrook Pkwy (we are posting signs saying
Volleyball Players Parking at the entrance of both).
In addition, Player's
taking the Meadowbrook Pkwy just follow the above directions. Player's
can still use the Wantagh Pkwy or the Robert Moses Causeway to Ocean
Pkwy West (just follow the detour signs to the BAY Pkwy "runs
along the bay side from the Wantagh Pkwy to the Meadowbrrok Pkwy"
to the Ocean Pkwy East.
Simply put, you are looping around to head back east on the Ocean
Pkwy to get to the above parking areas.
The Volleyball
Facility at Jones Beach is located at the Main Mall across from
the Monument and "The Jones Beach Circle". The circle
surrounds the Monument, which enables you to travel East & West
on the Ocean Parkway. Players can park in Parking Field 4 and take
the beach walk leading to the ocean. Once you reach the boardwalk
turn right and look for the Miniature Golf Course. The facility
is directly behind the Miniature Golf Course.
- From Western
Nassau, Queens & NYC
Take the LIE, Southern State Parkway, Northern State Parkway or
Sunrise Highway (East) to either the Meadowbrook Parkway or Wantagh
Parkway (South). For Meadowbrook Parkway: continue South to Ocean
Pkwy (East). Go to the Circle ("The Big Pencil" monument)
and around it heading back West and Parking Field 4 is immediately
on your right hand side. For Wantagh Parkway: continue South to
the end. At the Circle head East and Parking Field 4 is immediately
on your right hand side.
- From Eastern
Nassau
Take the LIE, Southern State Parkway, Northern State Parkway or
Sunrise Highway (West) to either the Meadowbrook Parkway or Wantagh
Parkway (South). For Meadowbrook Parkway: continue South to Ocean
Pkwy East). Go to the Circle ("The Big Pencil" monument)
and around it, head back West and Parking Field 4 is immediately
on your right hand side. For Wantagh Parkway: continue South to
the Ocean Pkwy. At the circle head west and Parking Field 4 is
immediately on your right hand side.
- From Suffolk
County
You can follow the directions for Eastern Nassau above if you
are closer to the Wantagh Parkway than the Sagtikos/Sunken Meadow
Parkway. If not, take the LIE or Northern State Parkway, to the
Sagtikos/Sunken Meadow Parkway (South) to the Southern State Parkway
(East). Than take the Robert Moses Causeway exit (South) to the
Ocean Parkway. Please note, take the same exit if you are taking
the Southern State Parkway or Sunrise Highway (West). After you
cross over the Robert Moses bridge take the exit that says to
Town Beaches/Jones Beach(West). Head (West) on Ocean Parkway passed
Cedar, Tobay and Gilgo Beaches (15-20 minutes) till you reach
the Circle ("The Big Pencil" monument), continue around
the Circle heading West and Parking Field 4 is on your right hand
side.
- From Long
Beach
Take Lido Blvd (East) to the Loop Parkway to the Meadowbrook Parkway
(South). continue South to Ocean Pkwy (East). Go to the Circle
("The Big Pencil" monument) and around it to head back
West and Parking Field 4 is immediately on your right hand side.
